On February 6, 2023, the Village Board of Trustees voted to adopt an energy and water benchmarking ordinance to help owners and managers of large commercial buildings to better understand and improve their building’s performance.

The Village Board of Trustees voted to adopt an energy and water benchmarking ordinance to help owners and managers of large commercial buildings to better understand and improve their building’s performance.

If you own or manage a public city building that is 10,000+ square feet or greater.

The city requires building owners to report their energy usage annually via the ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager tool by December 31st.

All energy utilities including electricity, natural gas, district energy, and any other purchased fuel type used to operate your building.

Water is another utility required for reporting.

Building owners must report their energy usage data to EPA’s Portfolio Manager, a reporting tool that allows building owners to compare their building’s energy efficiency with similar buildings.
